what is wrong with my Volvo XC90 Fuel Tank?

My Car does not fill fuel to full capacity, it fills up to half tank. the fuel attendant
can only manage to fill 40litres and the gauge on the dashboard will indicate
half tank. is there any blockage in the tank or what?

I don’t know with your car that much but I do know on my crown vic when this happens to put the pump upside down and the pump it. That gets all the air bubbles out of the way and should let you fill up all the way

You probably have a gas tank venting problem. Look up the EVAP system.

Have you found out what the problem was? I have the same issue with my XC90

Could be the float is stuck on the pump! The float is what tells the gauge empty or full! Does it get to roughly a half tank and seem to work properly from there? If so the float is bad!
