What do I do if I feel have been taken advantage of on the purchase of a used car from a "reputable" dealership?

Asked by z2go___ Sep 27, 2015 at 04:54 PM about the 2005 Volvo V70 2.5T

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I recently purchased a used Volvo from a nearby dealership. The car was advertised on their website for $9,999 including a 3rd row bench seat. When we arrived at the dealership. They quoted us a price of $10,995. Also no 3rd row bench seat. The salesperson was not willing to negotiate with us on the price and said it was a misprint. Also not even willing to budge on the Documentary Service Fee ($150.00) which was supposed to be negotiable as well. At this point, do we have any recourse on the purchase of this car? I think I should write a negative review on their website. What is your opinion on this process?  Thanks, Lana Masterson

Why did you buy it? I hate the way dealers work- they probably got that car as a trade in and paid nothing for it- but you went ahead and bought it anyway? Why?

I bought the car because we were the first ones to look at it and I have been searching for a red v70 with low mileage for a while. So yes, I did feel a lot of pressure. We are happy with this car except the hood has deep scratches on it and needs to be repainted which also was not negotiable! The dealership by the way is Volvo of Tacoma. Thanks for the answer!

Those are classic "bait and switch" tactics- if you want to consult a lawyer there is a possibility you might have a case- if you like the car, just keep it- you are helping to support a salesman's family-

I would go on Craigslist in Tacoma and post exactly what you posted here. If you are ever going to give a bad review it's essential that you start with IMO (In My Opinion). Those 3 letters can prevent lots of problems,
