Transmission Issues I believe I'm so confused help Please

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So the other morning I started my car. I shifted my gears to drive and
forgot I needed coolant. So I put the car back into park. I put the coolant in
and went to cut the car back on and it wouldn't turn over at all. I thought it
was because my gear shift rod under my car was loose. I had that
tightened but it still wouldn't turn over. I was told it may be the rod inside
my transmission that is causing this problem. I apologize if I'm not using the
correct terminology. But does anyone have any idea what it could be? How
simple is the fix? Cost?

okay...how did you know the coolant level was low?...and how did it get to be low....leak somewhere, I'd focus on that leak...shift rod was loose? there is a switch that inhibits the engine from starting when you are in gear...perhaps you've changed how that works now....cannot see your fix, but see if you can find the inhibitor switch...and the link that apparently needed some adjustment~ you must walk back your repair~ find the inhibitor switch...and test your repair~ (get a repair manual)~

you have two different problems. is the shifter moving ok? try moving the shifter from P to L and back to P a few times.

It goes from P to Drive without my car being on. I don't even have to touch my breaks. It just slides back and forth with ease.

a transmission shop could fix the interlock, and straighten any bend links~

Go to an other shop. It can be fixed . My need new bushings and just strighten the rods /links.
