No acceleration

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Volvo S80 and I just replaced
the radiator but now there is no
acceleration even in park. The gas pedal
goes flat and the engine does not rev

I have never had a car that accelerated in park but maybe your MAF or idle control valve is disconnected or has gone bad. Look for things that might have been unplugged or disconnected when the work was done.

The problem I had was the brake pedal position sensor located on the firewall next to the brake booster. Disconnect the electrical connection and carefully remove the springclip holding the sensor in place and remove the sensor and you can split the top off and clean the contacts and slide plate thingy inside it and reassemble it and use some silicone or other waterproof adhesive to fasten the top back in place. I have not had a problem with accelerator absence since! Hope this helps. P.s. you can always buy a new sensor if that's easier!:)
