What is the issue when the gas filler door will not open?

The gas filler door does not unlatch.  When the opening lever is activated
inside the car a click can be heard but the door does not open.

there is a latch and a spring arm that pushes the latch open it might be bent or broken, if it is bent in bend it back out and should be ok

You may have to push the back of the door and open it manually. The latch breaks after time.
