Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2006 GTO, 6.0L.  Off the bat I have a coolant leak I
replaced the water pump gasket, but I need a new
water pump. I keep adding coolant to make it it
has some. I’ve replaced the ECT sensor 3 times
thinking I keep getting bad ones but I don’t think
that’s the case and I’ve replaced the thermostat.
So My car sat for a month and before I even
started it it said on my dash that the coolant temp
was 412 degrees.??? And the temp gauge did not
move when I did start the car to see if the fans
were coming on. I’m stumped. Any advice would
help.

Thanks it did!! When I pushed the sensor in and held it pushed in, it read normal. So the receiving end of the pig tail was not making a good connection. I used a pick and slightly tweeked the receiving end so it would make a better connection and everything was normal! If it keeps happening I’ll need to replace that pig tail. Thanks Jim!!!
