I have a 2006 Mini Cooper S that had the water pump replaced. The serpentine belt came off the next day. Didn't they have to remove the belt for the repair in the first place?

I have a 2006 Mini Cooper S that needed to have the water pump replaced because it was leaking. After picking the car up and driving it for a day, the serpentine belt came completely off. I had the car towed back to the dealership and they are claiming they never touched the belt to remove and replace the water pump. Is that possible?

They are lying,you have to remove the belt to replace the pump.
