98 suburban tranny issued

My 98 suburban Chevy,  was leaving work and lost
drive would go in reverse but only momentarily.
Fluid is fine. But now won't go. When first start
goes in reverse than stops. Any ideas what this is?

Have a transmission shop check it out but it is almost certainly due for a rebuild.
