My 2006 audi a4 2.0t had an oil change and soon after the oil pressure light came on..then I stopped..checked the oil...looked for any leaks or smoke...tried to crank it but now it just turns over

i would suggest finding out what oil they put in the car. If they put regular sae oil into the car then its no wonder the oil light went off. audis only take synthetic oil. go back to he garage you had the work done and find out if they put anything else but 5w40 full synthetic in the engine you run the risk of ruining the oil pump and other parts in the car. so in other words if they put the wrong stuff. On the flip side if they did put the right stuff in then you probley have a bad oil sensor or pump.

@deathjam4 It's crazy that there is such a discrepancy on what type of oil should be put in my Audi. I have a 2006 Audi A4 2.0 and my understanding is that I'm to use 5-30 full synthetic in cold climate and 10-30 full synthetic in warm climate but I'm seeing here you say to use 5-40 full synthetic. You provide such good information on here I thought to ask you to understand the difference and why you recommend 5-40. Thank you!!
Alot of cars take the regular thinner brand of oil because they don't get as much heat to them. 5w 40 was a brand that has been specific to european style cars due to the amount of heat the engines provide during regular operation. 5w 40 will be good for your car during the winter or the summer and always use full synthetic since regular oil will only damage an audi engine because its viscosity level is alot lower then full synth. castrol makes a brand strictly for BMW, Volvo, and Vw/Audi cars and you can often find it cheap at Walmart or Canadian tire. Audi's and VW's take 6L of full synthetic oil. Now as for the reasons some one tells you to put diferent oils in during different seasons is that 5w 30 is thinner for winter use and 10w 30 is thicker for summer use. You never want to reverse it cause the thicker oil in winter will take longer to go threw your car and vice versa for the other one during summer. so full synctetic 5 w 40 castrol oil is what you will likely end up using its also what the Audi and vw dealers use.
