how do i know if my ignition coils need to be changed on my 04 rx8?

my 04 rx8 feels like its stalling then when i apply gas it quickly downshifts then it lags up to
like 20mph are the coils bad

It sound,s like a fuel problem,not firing,,check fuel filter,and then check the fuel pump,,,this can be checked by checking fuel pressure.
