Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am hoping to find out what and why the capital AT  lights up stays on most of the time
on my dash.
It just started day before yesterday.  I no longer have the manual.
Thank you in advance.

Usually it means Automatic Transmission, on most mazdas the anti theft is a light labeled "Security"

The light has not come back on for a day... What do I do to check that out? I don't feel any difference in driving except in the last month If i slow down and don't come to a complete stop and step on the gas, it seems to hesitate and then sounds and feels like it kinda catches up, I hope you know what i mean. :) Is transmission repair a very expensive repair?
