Question type: General

My 2006 MX-5 takes off at exactly 5000 rpm weather you are getting on it or not. Is this normal?

Since it is a 2006, it probably has a form of VVT (variable valve timing) or Vtec as Honda made it famous. If you ever drive a Honda civic SI it will also have a extra bump. You can find load of resources online explaining it.
