my right turn signal indicator will stay on with or with out the lights on however my turn signal does not work, when switched on the headlights go out as well any suggests on what the problem is?

I have a 1998 Chevy Cavalier  2 door ls, and my turn signal does not work. the
indicator light stays lit the whole time the car is running and when the signal is
actually switched on the headlights go out as well. any suggests on what the
problem is and a possible solution?

i will have my boyfriend check and get the manual as well my next question is could that still be the issue if the hazard lights work when activated?

Yes, you might want to check your local library for repair manuals.

Do the hazards use a separate bulb? As well as turn stop park just sayin
