Cavalier won't start

Asked by Bristowbomber Sep 24, 2016 at 11:27 AM about the 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier LS Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had to replace the starter on my 1998 cavalier 2.4
but when I put the new one on my car would not
start. I even used starting fluid. The car starts but
will not stay on. Before I replaced the start the car
started by it's self but I did have to tap on it with a
hammer. Does anyone have any suggestions about
the issue. To me it seems like it has something to
do with the fuel system but don't get it because
there was nothing wrong until I replaced the
starter.

Check very carefully all the wiring and grounds on or near the starter. You are looking for loose or corroded wiring.
