Outside mirror remove/install

Asked by Petet39 May 06, 2015 at 12:07 PM about the 1999 Mazda MX-5 Miata Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Neither the left nor the right side outside remote control mirrors will adjust through their full range. Each will respond a little to up/down and left/right commands, but only a little and intermittantly. I infer that the fuse and switch are good from this behavior, so I think the problem may simply be that congealed lubricant is more than the drive motors can handle. I know that (older) GM car external mirrors can be simply pulled off the drive assemblies to provide access to those drive assemblies, but I am loath to experiment with the Miata mirrors
