2000 Mazda B2500 Truck. Won't move forward in 'D", but can be shifted into D after momentum built up.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 Mazda B2300 truck. Truck will not move forward in 'D', but will
move forward in '2", and then I can shift into 'D' with momentum, and drive
normally.  I was told this is probably a sensor issue, but can not find
information about it on forums. Please help!!
FYI . .
1. The 2000 Mazda Truck was a transition year vehicle so the transmission
configuration is different than the 1999 or 2001).
2. Problem began after I got stuck in mud, and had to really over-rev engine
to get unstuck. My have overheated/caused a sensor to fail.
3. Reverse 'R', " works normally
