My vw passat 1999 turns on but when i put it on
drive from parking or to reverse it kicks but won't
not accelerate when put on drive but will drive on
reverse.  Its like it won't get the "D" gear but when it
does it only goes up to 20mph then stops running.
That's when i have to put it on 2,3 or 4 gears to
drive it. But won't drive on "D" .

this sounds like one of a few different things. Either the transmission has a damaged first gear, a bad shift control modual, bad trany computer(happens some times due to water) or the fluid level is low due to a bad seal in the transmission.
