97 passat glx vr6 starts then doesnt

So i have a 97 vw passat glx vr6 it will run
fine then i will shut it off and wont start so i
unhooked my MAF and started it and it
started so im like woohoo ya no ran fine
then shut off wont start so i put my hand
over the air filter tube by MAF and doesnt
quite feel like the engine is sucking any air i
have no idea what this can be. Can anyone
please. Point me in the right direction
