How can we lower the electronic spoiler of our Turbo S Beetle

Asked by MNBill Jan 31, 2015 at 09:07 PM about the 2004 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo S

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have a VW Beetle Turbo S. The electronic spoiler is stuck in the up position. When
we start driving the motor makes a loud grinding noise. We would just like to get the
spoiler down and the motor disconnected. Can this be done?

I got mine down by spraying its gears and hinges with LIQUID WRENCH SILICONE SPRAY. You can also use L.W. White Lithium Grease. There's a rocker switch that controls the spoiler under the left side of your dash panel beside your steering wheel. You have to kneel down outside your car and look up to see it. After spraying, turn on the the key, and push the rocker switch back and forth until you hear the spoiler motor shut the spoiler closed l
