Transmission Problems

Asked by Whitney Sep 07, 2017 at 11:13 AM about the 2001 Volkswagen Beetle GLS 2.0

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My automatic 2001 VW Beetle has had
MANY problems. I had to replace the
timing belt, coolant fans, fuse box (melted
wires), coolant hose, water pump,
alternator, and some other mechanical
problems. Now, my transmission has been
shifting a little harder and later than usual. I
went to AutoZone and the code that
showed up said i have a timing senor bad.
Wouldn't that have been replaced when
the timing belt was done? Or no? Also,
would that cause my trans to shift harder?

1 Answer

No, not unless you requested, it's separate from timing belt. That shouldn't affect your transmission
