Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 volkswagon beetle that i dont drive much.  It had a low battery but managed to start on the second try and stayed running well, when i turned the car off, I fully charged the battery.  When I tried to start the car later that day, it would crank over but not stay running. and the key doesn't unlock or lock the doors or trunk now?  there is no communication from the ECU to the obd II test connector to under the dash.  The obd II tester reads nothing.  Are these 3 issues i'm having now all tied together and is the reason the car wont stay running?  Is there a way I can reset the system?  Please Advise.

                                                                Respectfully,

                                                                Robert B.

Did you check the alternator?

Your car will NOT stay running with a bad alternator.
