AC causing misfires?

Asked by Danielruiz0828 Oct 09, 2014 at 09:31 PM about the 2004 Volkswagen Jetta GLS 1.8T Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

As I'm driving down the road with the
AC off the car runs fine, but when I
turn the AC on I feel the engine move
a tad bit, then when I accelerate hard
I get no response from the engine. I
got a random cylinder misfire &
secondary air injection codes. Any
ideas on what it is?

sounds like a bad compressor clutch. your compressor is more then likely stuck or seized up so when the clutch engages it slows the belt down and causes misfire. To see if this is the issue check your serpentine belt for shinny spots on the ridged side im willing to bet it probly has some very shiny places on it all the way around due to friction rubbing.
