I have a 2004 vw jetta all my colant has leaked out,
the pipes on the driver side are broke and were
steaming, i believe these hoses are connected to
the engine, what are these called ?
These are the broken hoses, with the duct tape
The one on top with the duct tape appears to be an air inlet, or maybe EGR related, it definitely is not a coolant hose as it runs to the air filter housing. The coolant hose could have leaked and sprayed all over, and you just saw it dripping off the other hose. I think you would be better off taking it in and having the cooling system checked over, if a hose blew it may have been from an obstructed coolant flow. But in the meantime don't drive it or let it overheat, you risk damage to the motor. If you have get it to a shop, drive only short distances and make sure radiator is kept full.
I figured coolant because it had all leaked out and the car was over heating, i didnt notice any leaking on the ground or anything, the car started steaming and i opened the hood and the coolant was all gone, thank you!
and get the crankcase vent hoses that have duct tape on them replaced as well.
