If you are considering putting an ABA 2.0 in place of an AEG 2.0, then you're probably in for too big of a battle. While the block might mate to the transmission fine...you engine wiring and ECU are pretty different...the amount of effort and expense to make that all work would make it more appropriate to swap in a 1.8t from 2002.
