2001 Volkswagen Jetta

One day when driving my car the gas pedal
stopped working. I took it off opened up the little
box on it and the two metal prongs inside were
frayed. So I replaced the pedal. Now when I start it
up push on the gas nothing happens. I’ve checked
the fuses. Please help!
