Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When i start the car and let my food off the brake pedal the rpm's will redline. As sson as i put my foot
back on the brake the rpm's will lower to about 600. i have a code for p2128 throttle/ pedal position
sensor/ switch "E" circuit high. I have taken the throttle body out to clean it a little bit. Was wondering if
there is any other thing i can do in order to resolve this issue? i have been told that the throttle body is
broken? and that i need a new one. any help would be greatly appreciated.

i was told if the car redlines like that i need a new throttle body as supposed to the rpm's going all over the place that the throttle body just needs to be initialized again with the car. where did you get that price? cheapest throttle body i can find is $336 (stock price as supposed to 945 retail)

I would be checking it out with several people before replacing a throttle body. What in the throttle body is causing the high revs? Is the butterfly valve hanging open? Find a Volkswagen Jetta forum and see what solutions other owners have.
