what going on with my car

what  happens when the car the tension pulley goes bad or the water pump . i have a
2000 jetta  v6  and the bottom pulley is very shakey and i am trying to find which thing i
need.

when a pulley goes bad, they will often squeal, but not always. take the belt off and feel all the pulleys by hand. they should be tight and smooth. if you have one that goes side to side or feels rough when you turn it then that's the bad one. you will need to figure out what it is attached to and then replace it.

the only pulleys bellow are the alternator Ac compresor and the crank shaft pulley. If your crank shaft pulley is not on properly or has droped some bolts which would be the likely case i would have that fixed asap.

Usually it's the tensioner pulley that goes bad....I'd check that one for play or grinding bearing first. Like mentioned earlier the signs usually are belt squeezing especially when the car is cold...
