Does ect sensor control the cooling fans on a 2000 vw jetta 2.0 ?

My jetta keeps overheating.  I've replaced the thermostat,  water pump , and 1
other temp sensor. Please help me.

Beebop....have you checked the head gasket lately? Classic overheating issue and it has to have failed or leaks by this point.
