Climate Control Blower Knob

So the climate control blower knob stopped working in my 99 jetta. I removed the front face plate and saw that the little metal connnector had broken loose. I reconnected it and it startrd getting really hot and spitting out flames. What do i do?

Put out the fire and replace the defective parts.
