What's wrong with my stereo?

After my battery went dead (for about the third time- just put a new one in!), my boss jumped my car but switched the cables on one end (I'm wondering if this has something to do with my problem??). After we got the car started, I noticed that the stereo wouldn't turn on. Its equipped with an anti-theft device that has a blinking LED light that operates when the stereo is not on, but even that wasn't functioning. Typically after the battery dies (or the stereo's removal from the car), the stereo goes into "safe" mode and I have to enter a 4-number passkey for it to return to normal operational mode. I can't even get that far- the stereo is completely dead. I've checked the fuse, which is fine, and I just don't know what else to do short of find a VW dealership and pay through the nose to have them fix it. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions?

dont know ehy he switched cables on 1 end,that would be + to - he probley shorted your raido and a few things you dont know about have a scan done,this will also short out computer.
