1996 vw jetta 2.0 engine compatibility

I have a 96 vw jetta. I need to replace the engine. There are
options to choose from. Vin. Trough 107409 and from 107410 cal.,  
canada emission. Will an engine from vin 107410 (97,98,)fit or
work with a vin through 107409 work(96)?

To be sure that you get the proper engine. Give that info to the scrap yard when inquiring about a replacemet. They have computer programs that know just that.
