I got this off VWVortex forum: This is for anyone looking for a list of what's needed to do a Proper VR6 swap in your MK3 2.0 or TDI's. here you go... JUST WANTED TO PUT THIS UP this is a comprehensive list on how to swap your 2.0 to a VR. if you want a list here you go.. i know cuz we did it last month... VR6 motor with all accessories(alt,a.c,coil-pack,mfa,throttle-body,inta ke) VR6 Tranny wiring harness ECU Cluster Pedals (if your car was automatic, this is not necessary if you have a standard MFA stalk (if your car doesn't have it) MFA harness harness to the cluster VR6 motor mounts because they are different from the 2.0 clutch slave Exhaust Manifold with O2 sensors(1 for the OBD 1 and 2 for the OBD 2) shifter box and cables. 98 evap system. THINGS TO WATCH FOR (this is from experience) make sure that the head is not leaking make sure there is no water in the oil dipstick(check this by lighting it on fire the dipstick) check the vac line that it is unscaved make sure that the harness is not spliced or cut in any way make sure that the rear knock sensor is not sheared off from removal of the VR6 make sure that the Throttle body plug is ok, not broken(when the motor is removed if not removed properly this will break.) a lot of problems occur when removal of the donor motor comes out, so basically one rule of thumb here is make sure you take the time and check things out. Make sure that the person that takes the motor out of the car does it properly or you will have a 800 part's list to complete the swap.
