Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok i need help asap!!!! I am looking to buy a 2002
GTI 1.8T AWP. The car is very modified " 300 hp"
and beautiful and at a ridiculously low price!!!! went
and looked at it and little odd and end things need
repaired and then I saw the big one. Well first the
owner was driving in the snow last winter and hit a
median it didn't do no body damage but it scraped
and busted the oil pan. Well needless to say the
car is lowered when I got under it, I could up in the
transmission where on a truck it would be the Bell
House. I have always had trucks so I don't know
nothing about vw's but you do front wheel drive
cars have Bill house or is that the whole
transmission casing? I also need to know how
deep is the oil pan?  because it looked like it went
into the side, where the transmission mounts to
the motor.  I do know they have a two piece oil pan.
<[(I have till Friday before I decide if it's a good thing to buy or walk away([<
