How do I stop mice from getting into interior including auxiliary

Had this problem on the Oregon Coast, got real cold at night so mice would nest all over my vehicle. My local mechanic recommended peppermint oil mixed with water in a spray bottle. I'd park at night, spray that around the vehicle. Wheel well tires and nesting areas and it worked like a charm. I guess it's like mace to the mice and burns their sinuses so they stay away, smells good too

Also, peppermint extract wont work, must be 100 percent peppermint oil.
