What turns on the instrument panel brake light

Some time my brake light on the instrument panel comes on and others it
doesn't

You might find a online copy of the owners manual and that will tell you for sure, It could be several things.... Some cars use that BRAKE light for more than one purpose * It might signal the Parking Brake is on * It might signal the Brake fluid is low * It might signal the ABS brakes are not working.

I had the same problem, I had to take it to the repair shop. What they found out was, the wheel bearings on the left side were bad and had destroyed the brake sensor.
