why does my 2001 vw cabrio not have spark out of coil?

i replaced the coil with 1 i purchased from car quest, it didnt work, i tested it and the ohm
reading was infinite, i returned it and got 1 from autozone , it worked for about 15 miles
then the car shut off, i have had issues with after market parts in the past , especially on
this vw ignition system, i guess i just want to here some input from others on this
particular problem.

well this one is easy to solve don't buy cheap parts lol! but yea you most likely have a short in the system some where or your ignition switch is going bad.
