Airbag light won't go off

Asked by MikeDoodle Apr 24, 2018 at 07:20 PM about the 2005 BMW Z4 2.5i Roadster RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Our car was hit in driver side door and airbag
deployed.  Door and airbag was replaced but
airbag light stays on. What can I do to make it go
off?]

Take it to a shop where they can diagnose the various parts of the airbag system. It's connected by fiber optics, and each airbag and the central module can be checked separately, as far as I understand. My airbag light is also on, and in my case, multiple codes are coming back from the central module, so the shop suspects it is bad. My vehicle is a flood salvage. I went and removed the module, and it looks perfectly new, so I'm hesitant to drop $850-900 on a new one unless I'm sure it's bad. This may be a case where taking it to a BMW dealer will be necessary, in my case. In your case, I'd try any independent mechanic that can scan the airbag system.
