Do you have to empty A/C compressor of Freon before you change A/C clutch bearings on 2000 Chevy Venture Van?

IF CLUTCH BEARINGS ARE BAD IN A/C COMPRESSOR DO YOU HAVE TO DRAIN ALL FREON OUT OF A/C COMPRESSOR? MY A/C works just making noise.

Only if you remove it from the engine. Leave the pipes connected, but be careful not to bend or twist them. The clutch is not connected to the inside of the compressor. Have fun. One hour job that will take 5?
