Changing Transmission fluid on 1987 Honda civic

Asked by Pinecone87 Nov 29, 2016 at 09:02 PM about the 1987 Honda Civic Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm trying to find the dipstick for the transmission
fluid in my nice little 1987 Honda Civic. It's an
automatic, with 1, 2, and OD. It's not shifting in OD
and I want to check the fluid but can't find where it
is?

If you don,t have a dip stick, for tranny, you have to go under car to check it by removing a plug and checking it with your finger, should be full just below plug hole,if not you may need to add some.

Hi, i just bought an 87 Honda Accord lx (automatic) today & can't locate the tranny dipstick. Been searching online & no luck either. Came upon this & was wondering if you had any luck finding it or if the place to fill the ATF is under the car & has the screw pins to fill & empty. Thanks for any help.

This is 1987 Honda Accord LX. It was super hard for me to find but eventually I found it. If you're standing in front of the car looking down below the battery look slightly to the right and you will find the dipstick cap. It comes off pretty easily.
