To much pressure in radiator

My 89 Honda accord is building a
lot of pressure in the radiator
which in turn is making water
come out of the radiator cap in the
overflow valve what is causing the
pressure I know the thermostat
has been gutted it's just a room
could that be causing a problem or
is it a blown head gasket

It is possible that the problem is a blown head gasket. Getting a test kit to check for combustion gasses in the coolant may help you figure this out. A kit should be available at most any auto parts store.
It is very possible that the problem is a defective thermostat or a bad radiaror cap. maybe you have on the wrong pressure cap. Do not immediately think it is a blown head gasket. You can pressure test to know that. However, you can also remove the cap and start the engine and allow it to run for 5 minutes. If it is a blown gasket then coolant will gush out aggressively .
