How can the transmission fluid be low if there is no leak found?

We were told that we need a rebuilt/used transmission after it started losing power in second/third gear
because the transmission fluid was low. After adding more trans. fluid it still ran the same. We got
another opinion to find out that there were no leaks of trans. fluid. What causes trans. fluid to get low?

A leak from the trans, trans lines, trans cooler. Some have a vacuum modulator that can go bad and suck trans fluid into the motor and burn it off. Get more creative, i have a leak out of the front seal on my truck that drips onto the exhaust and burns off was it drips so i dont see it on the ground.

It has 190,000 miles and runs great aside from the transmission. It was replaced 5 years ago with a re-built transmission. I drive it normally about 60 miles a day.
