AC cuts off when very hot and muggy while accellerating

1996 sl320 infrequently the AC cuts off while accelerating, the coolant and the
lubricant have been replaced, the filter will be changed soon. Any other
thoughts?

Check ac belt tension. If loose this can happen.

On some cars that would be normal. The idea is that on full throttle situations you want all the horsepower you got, like when you're passing. On some cars there is a sensor for "low vacuum" (full throttle) that clicks off the A/C compressor until you let off the gas. This also protects the compressor from over revving. But checking the belt tension is also a very good idea. That's easy to do.

as it turned out the bracket holding the alternator is broken easing the tension on the belt. Waiting for parts to repair Thanks Paul
