I have a 2000 Chevy Malibu mileage is only 148000 and it's hard for the car to switch out of lower gear I haven't had any problems with the car so far, what could be the issue?

Also check the fluid when it is hot. If its low add some lucas trans stop slip ( its almost to 175k which is considered high milage) make sure u check it in neutral with the car hot and put the parking brake on. Have u ever gotten a trans flush? DONT if u have never. It will kill it instantly cause the cars used to that fluid.
