Power driver seat Only kinda works

Asked by jeffb Jun 26, 2011 at 02:58 PM about the 2003 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class CLK 320 Cabriolet

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My driver seat only partially adjust. The seat back works fine. The bottom of the seat will go up and down but not adjust forward and backward. I've been told to look at fuses and to the best of my knowledge the 3 that are associated to the seat are all okay. Others have told me that the seat has 3 motors and this one has gone bad and I need to replace it.

Are there any other possibilities it maybe? Is there a way to test the motor before I spend several hundred? Is there a easy way to take the seat out to get access to the motors?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Jeff

The switches in the door panel (as well as the electrical systems in general) have always been problematic on the C208/9 chassis. I had the same problem on an 01, replaced the switch and it worked fine. Check that out before you buy a motor. Alex
