If trunk release switch works only when key is in ignition pop hood and run a wire from battery to the switch after you remove it and stick it in back of connector where the wires go in. Trunk opens presto.

If the key fob is in trunk some cars know this and trunk will open, feel around under the lip of trunk or around licence plate are for a button to push and trunk will open.

If trunk release switch is bad and trunk release used to work without key in ignition, then just pull the switch out and use a paper clip or small piece or wire to jump from the power side of back of wire harness connector to the other side of connector.
