The sound comes from the alarm system that is installed below and under the battery area. The device has it's own battery that when weakening will make the sound intermittently. It is separate from the battery system because if thieves cut the battery cable it will continue to alarm. To replace, it costs $177, plus labor. For a 10 year old car, it's not worth it so it can be removed (for $100.00 labor).
