The engine will not start

Asked by trco Nov 23, 2014 at 08:01 PM about the 2003 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 230 Supercharged Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The problem started out with the engine surging, low power and stalling at idle. My
local mechanic suggested I clean the MAF sensor. I bought a can of MAF Sensor
cleaner and sprayed the sensor. After I let it sit about 30 minutes, I tried to start it and
it would not start. It would only backfire through the intake. I then pulled the plugs to
see if it was flooded and found no problem. I then shot about a teaspoon of gas into
the intake and this made no difference. I then assumed I had ruined the MAF sensor
because it would run poorly before I cleaned it and now it would not run at all, so I
bought a new one, installed it and the car has no change whatsoever. It still will not
start or even try to start.
I checked and cleaned the MAF sensor connector, no difference. I checked the 3
fuses that protect the engine electronics and none were bad.
I am out of ideas.  need some help, please

I sold this piece of junk. I strongly suggest that everyone who owns a mercedes benz sell it and cut your losses. Buy an American or Japanese car and stop the headaches and expense of owning anything european. Merry Christmas!!! I no longer am a victim of Mercedes Benz!!!!
