c240 2002 mb will not accelerate when gas pedal is pressed starts fine when restarted car works normal

Asked by chin_kosama Mar 16, 2014 at 05:29 PM about the 2002 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 240 Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

12yr old c240 was working fine till until I put it thru an accelerated rough ride. After i
came to a stop light and pressing the gas pedal did nothing. The car moved at a crawl
like it was starting from stop in 3rd gear. I pulled over turned off the car waited several
minutes calling road side. I started the car n it appeared to work fine but I was too scared
to push it like I usually do. Any suggestions?

I have a 2003 C240 that is doing similar things. Just started last night. My son drives the car and I noticed a high pitched whine at startup. Today, I went to follow him home from school, he pulled out fine, went about half mile to a red light and then the car literally stalled out. Every thing was on, but when he hit the gas only the tranny revved up. He drifted to a spot that I could eventually push him to a parking spot. Any ideas out there ?.
