Torque slip?

Asked by Alex Nov 21, 2009 at 02:11 AM about the 2002 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 230 Supercharged Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2002 C230 kompressor, 5 speed automatic, ~108k miles.
Check engine light is on. Took it to a mechanic and the codes say the transmission is experiencing torque slip. This is when the transmission upshifts and 'slips', letting engine rev up before catching the gear. This has never happened though. Any ideas?

You mostly likely just have a worn bands in the trans. The only way to fix it is to do an overhaul on it. You might want to make sure the line pressure isn't low before tearing into the trans.
