I have a 2000 Chevy Cavalier and I have
multiple problems on it. When I try to turn
my car on it just makes a clicking noise in
the engine and my car doesn't turn over.
My starter relay works fine. I got a new
starter a couple months ago and I know
that works fine. I can still turn on my car
and drive it properly. All I have to do it have
a wire touch the positive terminal on the
battery and have the other end of the wire
touch the starter relay. My battery works
great and the connections are tight. I'm
just wondering if anyone knows what could
be the problem on why I can't turn my car
on only with my key. Could it be the starter
solenoid?

My question is which terminal on the relay are you jumping to? The wire that goes to the starter, or the wire that goes to the ignition? The wire that goes to the starter will be the one that is the same size as your battery cable on the opposite side of the relay. If you're getting it to start by hitting the starter side, you are merely bypassing what could be a bad relay. OR. If you are starting it by jumping the battery to the ignition wire, most probably red, connected to one of the smaller terminals on your relay, may be marked ign, then it is more likely to be a loose or broken wire from the ignition to the starter relay. Also a good idea to double check and clean your battery to ground cables, both on the engine block and on the chassis.
